Slowenien hat Anfang Juli die EU-Ratspräsidentschaft übernommen. Während das übrige Europa entweder mit China hadert oder besonders gute Beziehungen anstrebt, zeigt sich das kleine Land hier jedoch betont entspannt und macht die Polarisierung nicht mit. Die Fernost-Politik steht daher gegen den Trend ganz unten auf der Agenda. In Brüssel wird derweil Kritik an Premier Janša laut. Diesem fehle wegen rechtsstaatlicher Schwächen gegenüber Peking die nötige Glaubwürdigkeit. Frankreich will ihn daher genau beaufsichtigen.
