The fronts between Poland and the EU have hardened in the dispute over the rule of law and the primacy of EU law. A debate with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in the European Parliament in Strasbourg failed to produce a quick solution. However, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen hinted that she was still willing to talk.

Die Diskussion um die EU-Fiskalregeln dürfte schwierig und womöglich langwierig werden. Die Zeit aber drängt, da die derzeit ausgesetzten Regeln 2023 wieder greifen sollen. Die Kommission will nun verhindern, dass die wirtschaftliche Erholung leidet.
