Spain: Commission criticizes amnesty law.

The amnesty law is said to have helped secure Pedro Sánchez’s reappointment in 2023 – at least, that is the view expressed in an opinion from the European Commission to the European Court of Justice (ECJ), which was leaked to Spanish media.

EU electoral law: Sánchez blocks reform

Spain is the only Member State that has not yet notified the new EU electoral law. Head of government Pedro Sánchez has domestic political reasons for this. A delegation from the EU Parliament's Constitutional Affairs Committee has now visited Madrid for talks.
