Anna Lührmann: "No discounts on the rule of law"

With an eye on Poland and Hungary, the Minister of State for Europe and Climate at the German Foreign Office warns against compromising on EU principles because of the conflict with Russia. "Tank Man changed the world"

On the morning of June 5, 1989, a Chinese man became a hero and an icon of the struggle for freedom against the oppression of the masses. Because he stood in front of a rolling column of tanks, the international community christened him Tank Man. Time magazine raised the unknown man to the illustrious circle of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century. Supply chain problems, port chaos and declining growth – the negative effects of the zero-Covid policy are hardly addressed by China's state media. Analysts and economists who paint a pessimistic picture of the situation are censored. Criticism of the consequences of Covid measures is particularly unwanted.

When it comes to EVs, China not only wants to rely on batteries, but also on fuel cells. For a long time, hydrogen mobility was considered useful only for trucks in China due to the complex fuel tanks. But now, the first Chinese fuel cell car is going into series production. Chinese manufacturers could beat the German competition to the punch here, too.
