DeepSeek: IEA says energy consumption of AI is difficult to estimate

Data from the Chinese start-up DeepSeek suggests that artificial intelligence could be used in a much more energy-efficient way in the future. However, the International Energy Agency (IEA) says it is almost impossible to make reliable predictions about energy demand. And paradoxically, the efficiency gains could, in turn, drive demand.
