COP28 decision: Not perfect, but the direction is clear

The final text of COP28 does not contain the phase-out of fossil fuels that many countries had hoped for. However, many still see the somewhat ambiguously worded sentence on "phasing out fossil fuels" as a clear signal that the end of the fossil fuel era has been heralded.

Limits for de minimis aid increase

The EU Commission has extended two regulations for de minimis aid until the end of 2030 and increased the maximum amount – from €200,000 to €300,000 over a period of three years.

Commission clears the way for €10 billion to Hungary

The EU Commission wants to clear the way for €10 billion in previously blocked EU funds to be paid out to Hungary. The Budapest government had fulfilled the conditions imposed by Brussels in the area of the independence of the judiciary.
