Poland: Tusk survives vote of confidence.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk managed to remain in office following his election defeat. The confidence vote he called resulted in a positive outcome for him and his coalition.

Spain: Commission criticizes amnesty law.

The amnesty law is said to have helped secure Pedro Sánchez’s reappointment in 2023 – at least, that is the view expressed in an opinion from the European Commission to the European Court of Justice (ECJ), which was leaked to Spanish media.

Industrial policy: Jeroen Dijsselbloem pitches Eindhoven as a model for the EU

The former Eurogroup president and current mayor of Eindhoven is calling for European industrial policy to be guided by local excellence clusters. In an interview with Table.Briefings, Dijsselbloem argued that the proposed EU Competitiveness Fund and cohesion funds should in the future be channeled more strategically toward such “economic engines”.
