In provenance research, we not only reconstruct the paths of art but also question the behavior of our ancestors and reevaluate patterns of action. This can lead to the deconstruction of previous heroes of collection history, both in museums and private collections. While this may be painful, it should not distract us from recognizing Germany's colonial entanglements. This is a response to Renata Franke's Opinion.

According to a survey conducted by the Hamburger Stiftung für Wirtschaftsethik (Hamburg Foundation for Business Ethics), German SMEs consider protecting human rights along the supply chain important. The focus is currently primarily on supply chains in China. However, companies are not satisfied with the implementation of the law in Germany – and do not always feel adequately represented by their own associations in this regard.
