USA and China revive agricultural dialog

After a long hiatus, the US and China have returned to talks at the ministerial level on possible agricultural trade cooperation. In a further signal of growing willingness to engage in dialogue, they revived a bilateral agricultural committee suspended since 2015.

Authorities grant licenses for genetically modified maize and soya

China plans to plant genetically modified seeds for several maize and soybean varieties in 13 regions under state supervision. The authorities issued the first licenses to this effect. Pilot projects for green genetic engineering have been running since 2021.
